The Coffee Room (Koffiekamer)
The Coffee Room was originally built as the “small dining room” of Stadholder Willem V. During the period when the Council of State (Raad van State) used the “painted gallery” for its meetings, this room was used as a cloakroom by its members. In 1920, the room became a Coffee Room. MPs, clerks and a small number of privileged people could have lunch or dinner here. Nowadays, the Coffee Room is used for receptions, as are the Old Chamber and the Smoking Room.
