Members of Parliament attended the autumn meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe read aloud (this opens a new window)

From Friday 9 to Monday 12 October, Mr. Çoskun Çörüz (Christian Democratic Appeal), Ms. Kathleen Ferrier (Christian Democratic Appeal) and Mr. Han ten Broeke (People's Party for Freedom and Democracy) attended the autumn meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation (OSCE) in Europe in Athens.

Energy Security and Environment
The theme of the Autumn Meetings is Energy Security and Environment. The Meetings also included a session of the Assembly's Standing Committee of Heads of Delegations and a meeting of the Mediterranean Forum. Over 200 Members of Parliaments from 49 countries participated in the meetings.

In three focused sessions, the Parliamentary Conference on Energy and Security addressed Regional Co-operation in Energy Security, Climate and Environmental Policy and Optimal Utilization of Natural Resources for Human Security. The Fall Meetings also included a Mediterranean Forum which considered prospects and challenges for the OSCE Mediterranean dimension, as well as a meeting of the Standing Committee.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly organizes Fall Meetings annually in the Mediterranean area to enhance inter-parliamentary dialogue, not the least with parliamentarians from the Mediterranean Partners for Cooperation, non-OSCE countries around the Mediterranean Sea. Algeria, Jordan, Egypt and Israel, are scheduled to participate in Athens.

Standing committee
The delegation leaders of the Dutch Member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Çoskun Çörüz (Christian Democratic Appeal) and the Dutch Member of the Senate, Mr. Hans Franken (Christian Democratic Appeal) attended the meeting of the Assembly’s Standing Committee.
