On Thursday 10 February at 3:00 p.m, the Committee of Foreign Affairs will speak with the Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs.

Main issue of the meeting will be the revision of the European development policy. The European Commission has released two discussion papers (Green Papers). The Commission will use these Green Papers to sound out the opinions on the development policy. The papers will also form the foundation for new proposals.

Green Papers

The Green Papers are about budget support to developing countries and the relation between development policy and economic growth, democratization and sustainability, among other things. Earlier, the House of Representatives exchanged views about these subjects with the State Secretary of Foreign Affairs, mr Ben Knapen. The Dutch input will be used for further elaboration of the plans.
