Interparliamentary conference on improving accountability of EU funds in EU Member States 
From Thursday 28 to Friday 29 January 2010, the House of Representatives will host an interparliamentary conference on improving the accountability of European Union (EU) funds in EU Members States.The conference will be held in the Old Chamber (Oude Zaal) of the House of Representatives.
Two-day conference
The conference is being organized by the Public Expenditure Committee of the House of Representatives in close cooperation with the Committee of Finance of the Senate.
This two-day conference will bring representatives of the committees on budget control (or equivalent bodies from the national parliaments) of EU Member States, the European Parliament and delegates of the European Court of Auditors together to discuss the role of EU Member States, the role of national parliaments in controlling EU spending and the accountability of EU funds.
Discussion paper
Prior to the conference a discussion paper has been prepared and sent to the participants. The document addresses seven ‘key questions’.Based on this paper, received response and discussions during the conference, a joint statement will be formulated at the conference.
