Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations to present its final report

On Thursday 30 October 2014 at 13.30 pm, the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations will present its final report. 

The Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into Housing Associations has carried out an inquiry into the structure and the functioning of the housing associations sector in the Netherlands. The inquiry was set up following financial problems at the Vestia housing association, preceded by several incidents with other housing associations.



The investigation carried out by the committee of inquiry spans a period of approximately 20 years. The starting point is the further privatization of the housing associations in the early 1990s. The aim of the inquiry was to make an assessment of the system in order to contribute to the development of future policy in this area.



After its installation on 16 April 2013, the committee of inquiry carried out literature study and paid working visits. The committee also heard a large number of witnesses and experts: directors of housing associations, managers from the housing association sector, supervisory board members, supervisors, civil servants and politicians, both from the House of Representatives and the Cabinet.



The inquiry committee consists of the following MPs:

Presentation of the report live streamed

On Thursday 30 October the presentation of the report in the Old Plenary Hall will be live streamed ( in Dutch). Attendance of the presentation in the Old Plenary Hall is for representatives from the media only.

The presentation starts at 13.30 pm on Thursday 30 October 2014. The chair of the committee of inquiry, Mr Roland van Vliet, will present the report to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ms Anouchka van Miltenburg, after which he will give a further explanation of the report. Subsequently, the press will be given the opportunity to ask questions.
