President to open symposium ‘Paying Taxes’

On Monday November 10 the President of the House of Representatives, ms. Gerdi Verbeet, opened the symposium ‘Paying Taxes’. The symposium was organized  by the standing committee of Finances in cooperation with the World Bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Tax environment
During the symposium,  the report ‘Paying Taxes 2009, the global picture’ was presented. This annual report of the World Bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers compares the tax burden for medium-sized and small businesses in 181 countries. It includes worldwide lists that chart the tax environment for entrepreneurs.

Discussion
Following the presentation, members of the committee for Finances gave their reaction to the outcome of the report for the Netherlands. The afternoon concluded with a discussion between the participants of the symposium.
