President of Dutch House visits Israel and Palestine read aloud (this opens a new window)

From Friday March 5 until Monday March 8, the President of the Dutch House of Representatives, Ms. Gerdi Verbeet will pay a working visit to Israel and Palestine. The visit to Israel is at the invitation of the President of the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, mr. Reuven Rivlin.

Dutch community
On Saturday March 6, the President will visit the retirement home Beth Juliana in the city of Herzlia in Israel. A meeting with the Dutch community in Israel is also planned. Dutch correspondents and representatives of Dutch organisations and companies will be present.

Palestine
During the visit to Palestine on Sunday March 7, the President will, among others, visit the refugee camp Oalandia. She will meet the Palestinian Presdident Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayad and members of the parliamentary working group for Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, the President will speak with students of Birzeit University about future perspectives and the situation on the Westbank.

Knesset
On Monday March 8, the President will visit the Knesset. She will meet the chairman of parliament, mr. Reuven Rivlin and members of the interparliamentary contact group Israel-the Netherlands. In addition, the President will speak with the President of Israel, Shimon Peres.

Yad Vashem
The President will also visit the Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem.. During her stay in Israel, ms. Verbeet will speak with several representatives and persons involved in democracy, education, care and welfare.
