The Parliamentary Reporting Office
Since 1848, the debates of the Eerste Kamer and the Tweede Kamer have been recorded verbatim and recorded in the 'Handelingen '. A summary report is made of committee meetings. In this way everyone can see what has been subject of debate in parliament. In the past notes were taken in shorthand and the reporters were called stenographers. Nowadays everything is recorded on tape and shorthand is no longer necessary. The staff of the Parliamentary Reporting Office, who also work for the Eerste Kamer (Senate), make draft reports of all of these meetings. The work implies more than writing accounts; they also draw up notes and investigation reports
