Biography

“The government should serve the people”

Many people have been let down recently and they deserve our attention. We have a lot of work on our hands with regard to agriculture, nature, and nitrogen. A lot of projects have been put on hold and ordinary people are forced to shoulder the burden. I hope to contribute to a breakthrough, to a solution.

Political experience

I have been active in all three tiers of government prior to being an MP and have reasonable knowledge in various fields. I have held leadership positions in the agricultural sector for a large part of my life. I also managed and ran a dairy farm myself for a long time, so I am well versed in the language of politics and farming.

Drenthe pride

I am proud to be an MP from Drenthe. There are very few of us nowadays – I am one of only three – so it is a great honour to represent our home province.

Leisure

I live in the very beautiful village of Roden, near Groningen, where everything I need is at my fingertips. I enjoy cycling, hiking, and reading, especially specialist literature. My favourite travel destinations are warmer countries. I have travelled a lot for my governmental work, which has taught me that being open broadens your mind.
