Registry & Legislation Bureau
The Tweede Kamer receives hundreds of notes, letters and other documents on a daily basis, both from the government and from civilians or organizations. The Registry & Legislation Bureau files all documents and ensures that they end up at the right place. Every Thursday, the Tweede Kamer decides which topics will be dealt with at next week’s meetings. The Registry & Registration Bureau draws up the agenda and notifies the Ministers who are required to attend the meeting. They also make a long term schedule and compile voting lists, which make it clear to the MPs what amendment will be voted on and when. The text of each bill or amendment submitted by an MP is checked and assessed by the Legislation Office. Is the text structured correctly? Does the proposed regulation meet the juridical standards? Once the bills have been adopted by the Tweede Kamer, the Office of the Secretary-General forwards them to the Senate, the Eerste Kamer.
