Delegation from the House of Representatives to discuss European vision of the future with Mr Van Rompuy

On Monday 8 October a delegation of Dutch MPs will pay a visit to Brussels. The MPs will have talks with some key role players in the debate about Europe's economic and monetary future.

Report

The Dutch MPs will meet with Mr Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, shortly before his presentation, at the Council meeting of 18 and 19 October, of an important report on Europe's economic, monetary and political cooperation. The financial situation of the European Union will be discussed with EU Commissioner on Financial Programming and Budget, Mr Janusz Lewandowski.

 

Budget

Negotiations are currently in progress on the EU's long term budget, the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework. This proposal and the position of the Netherlands in the negotiations are of special political interest to the House of Representatives. That is why the delegation members will also meet with Mr Alain Lamassoure, chairman of the Committee on Budgets of the European Parliament. After a talk with Dutch EU Commissioner Ms Neelie Kroes, responsible for the digital agenda, the delegation of the House of Representatives will meet with Dutch MEPs.
