Dutch Veterans’ day

On Saturday 25 June 2011, The Netherlands celebrated Veterans’day. The celibrations include a manifestation on the Malieveld in The Hague, a presentation of medals on the Inner Court and a parade. The President of the House of Representatives, ms Gerdi Verbeet, and members of the committee of Defence were present.

On Saturday 25 June 2011, The Netherlands celebrated Veterans’day in The Hague. This year was the 7th Veterans’day. It is a day of recognition and appreciation for Dutch veterans. The President of the Dutch House of Representatives, ms Gerdi Verbeet, and members of the committee of Defence were present.

 

The day began with a manifestation on the Malieveld. Then there was a meeting in the Knight’s Hall, followed by a presentation of medals on the Inner Court. Soldiers were presented with a medal in recognition of their commitment during recent military missions.

 

At approximately 13.00 pm there was a parade in which 4000 veterans and soldiers took part. They were accompanied by 18 music bands. In addition, a fly-past took place with historical and modern aeroplanes and helicopters.
