Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature

The Standing Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature deals with a wide range of policy areas, including the central government's policy on nature, nitrogen, manure handling, fisheries, crop protection, food, biotechnology, horticulture and animal welfare. The European Union also plays an important role in this.

The committee regularly consults with the Minister and the State Secretary of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature on their policy areas. Other cabinet members are also regularly invited to attend committee debates when relevant to their policy areas. The committee also has regular contact with individuals, organisations, scientists, and research and advisory institutions. This is done in various ways, for instance by organising round-table talks, via working visits or by accepting petitions and letters from citizens and organisations. The members of the committee use this information in debates or when asking written or oral questions of the government.

The committee draws up a knowledge agenda for the further examination of specific topics.
