What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Mona Keijzer.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
The future of my children. Will they enjoy freedom, will they be able to find a home, will they be able to start a business? We tend to focus on models instead of on people’s real lives. We need to pay more attention to the regions outside the Randstad area and to the countryside.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
Politicians are attached to a world of models, but they will not help solve our problems. We need to look beyond models and find practical solutions. Take nitrogen policy: there are so many laws, rules and objections that supposedly make things impossible. I would love to tackle them.
3. Who inspires you?
Ordinary people. I once visited a housing complex where vulnerable older people live together with young people. One young woman there dedicates herself to her neighbours, and that inspires me.
