House and new cabinet debate government's statement of policy

On Wednesday 25 February, prime minister Rob Jetten delivered the government's statement of policy in the House of Representatives. He presented the new cabinet, which was sworn in on Monday 23 February. The delivery of the government's statement of policy was followed by a debate, which lasted two days.

The debate marked the end of the formation of the new cabinet after the elections held on Wednesday 29 October 2025. After negotiations between several political parties represented in the House, three parliamentary groups reached a coalition agreement at the end of January. They agreed to form a minority cabinet. Together, D66, VVD and CDA hold 66 out of 150 seats in the House of Representatives.

Inaugural meeting

A few weeks ago, Rob Jetten (D66), who as leader of the largest party was the intended prime minister, was appointed by the House of Representatives to select a team of ministers and state secretaries for the new cabinet. Before he submitted his final report to President of the House Thom van Campen on Saturday 21 February, the intended new cabinet held an inaugural meeting.
