Temporary committee : Temporary Committee on the Parliamentary Inquiry Act
The Temporary Committee on the Parliamentary Inquiry Act is examining proposed amendments to the Parliamentary Inquiry Act 2008 and the Rules of Procedure. The committee was established on 5 March 2026, for a period of six months. The committee's mandate stems from the results of a working group focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of the House. In Chapter 7 of its final report, the working group listed a number of recommendations previously adopted by the House concerning the instrument of parliamentary inquiry.
Proposal
The working group has recommended the establishment of a temporary committee to implement its recommendations. This committee will be tasked with working out a proposal, which will then be submitted to the House. This should lead to a broadly supported bill and the preparation of potential amendments to the Rules of Procedure. In addition, this committee should consider other relevant experiences or recommendations regarding the exercise of the right of inquiry, and obtain input from experts and relevant parties.
Chairperson
The committee consists of the following MPs: Mr Tom van der Lee (chairperson, GroenLinks-PvdA), Mr Bart Bikkers (deputy chairperson, VVD), and Mr Joost Eerdmans (JA21). The committee held its constitutive meeting on 1 April 2026.
