National Ombudsman Reinier van Zutphen officially sworn in

On 31 March 2015 Mr Reinier van Zutphen was officially sworn in as the new National Ombudsman in the plenary sitting of the House of Representatives.

The National Ombudsman and his organisation deal with complaints from citizens about public administration. The National Ombudsman also advises government bodies on how to improve services. Every year the National Ombudsman reports on his activities and findings in a plenary sitting of the House of Representatives. On Wednesday 27 March the interim National Ombudsman, Mr Frank van Dooren, presented the annual report 2014 to the House.

Mr Reinier van Zutphen

On Tuesday 3 February The House of Representatives appointed Mr Van Zutphen National Ombudsman for a six-year term of office. From 2012, Mr Reinier van Zutphen was president of the Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal. Before that he was president of the Netherlands Association for the Judiciary, from 2007 to 2012. From 1 January 2014 Frank van Dooren served as interim National Ombudsman.
