President of the House speaks at memorial children’s transport Vught

On Sunday 5 June, the President of the House of Representatives, Ms. Gerdi Verbeet, spoke at the memorial service at Camp Vught.

On Sunday 5 June, the President of the House of Representatives, Ms. Gerdi Verbeet, spoke at the memorial service at Camp Vught. This is an annual event to remember the children’s transport of 1943. After the remembrance ceremony, the President of the House opened the exposition “All the children, they are gone.” Camp Vught, June 1943”, together with ms. Lotty Huffener, survivor of Camp Vught.






Commemoration

Ms. Gerdi Verbeet and other speakers will remember the events of 6 and 7 June of 1943, when more than 1,000 children of 16 years and younger where transported via Westerbork to Sobibor.  On 11 June 1943, the day they arrived in Sobibor, all these children were murdered together with their parents,  3014 people in total.
