Debate about strikes EU employees
The House discussed recent strikes by employees of the European Union.
Employees of the European Union went on strike a few times this year. Some parties in the House want to have a debate about these strikes. The most recent one was last week when around 3,500 employees at the Council of the European Union have staged a strike in protest against the union’s austerity measures. The staff members at the council stopped work Tuesday to oppose member states attempt to curb the pay, pensions and promotions of EU civil servants. In addition, the strikers were protesting against an increase in the retirement age from 63 to 67. The House had a debate about this sutiation and the position of the civil servants working for the EU in general.
