What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Jan Arie Koorevaar.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
I want to help create a political culture with more room for nuance and genuine dialogue. In today’s polarised debate, I miss mutual trust and openness towards one another.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
I believe in politics with integrity, honesty and togetherness. That includes clear goals, so everyone knows which steps are needed and can work towards them with real expertise. I want to help restore the consultation structures between government, academia, business and education in order to build a reliable, forward-looking state and a country to be proud of.
3. Who inspires you?
My father still inspires me. He started with nothing and built up a successful farm, while always looking out for the people around him. He is a quiet unifier, always willing to help, active in the church as a deacon and as a volunteer in the community. He is patient and takes time for people. His dedication, his care for others and his modesty taught me what it means to carry responsibility with heart, mind and hands. What a man.
