What does this MP stand for?

Three questions for Femke Wiersma.

1. What drives you to serve as an MP?

In previous roles, I saw how many groups in society feel unheard. A sense of injustice drives me to do this work, especially when I think of farmers and others who are struggling. My second key reason is that I have experienced first-hand how policy is often ill-aligned with daily life.

2. What would you change about the Netherlands?

I would like to restore calm in society, reduce polarisation and for us to have more understanding and respect for each other. I have Frisian roots, and I believe this country could use a bit more Frisian level-headedness.

3. Who inspires you?

As minister I met people from different parties who share the same core values. I am inspired by people who work selflessly for others. I am also encouraged by how many women now stand strong and have become more empowered as a group.
