What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Elmar Vlottes.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
I want to stand up for the people who voted for us. For me that means limiting migration, reducing the role of Islam in the Netherlands and easing the tax burden. I did this as a provincial representative in Gelderland, and it is an honour to continue it in the House of Representatives.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
Pushing down cost of living is the most important thing for me. Taxes are sky-high, groceries are unaffordable and energy bills have risen massively. We can and must do better.
3. Who inspires you?
Pim Fortuyn sparked my interest in politics. His murder was a dark moment in our history. My mother also inspired me; she strengthened my interest in politics. I grew up in a very politically engaged family, so I always had someone to talk to.
