Biography

“People’s representative over professional politician”

My political career has taken me from The Hague municipal council to the House of Representatives and to Brussels, where I was a policy officer. Still, I do not consider myself a professional politician. Whether you are in municipal politics or national politics, I am a staunch believer in staying in touch with ordinary people. As an MP, I want to be a true representative of the people. I organise working visits and constituency clinics to stay connected to our streets and neighbourhoods, where the people I want to work for live.

Local experience

My experience in local politics has taught me how important it is to stay in touch with the people. And while this puts municipalities in a prime position to perform certain tasks, I am not a proponent of simply delegating everything to municipalities. As an MP, I want to monitor closely whether all our plans are feasible and whether we’re not taking things too fast.

Dutch identity

I have been interested in politics since childhood. I would always watch the news and still remember following the US presidential election between Bill Clinton and George Bush. Later, when Pim Fortuyn and Geert Wilders made a name for themselves in Dutch politics, I decided I too would do my bit for society. That is why I signed up for the PVV in 2009, to protect the Dutch identity. I am committed to working for everyone who has embraced our country, our Constitution, and our freedoms.
