Biography

“Focus on what really matters”

I have been a provincial councillor for Zuid-Holland since 2016 and a municipal councillor for Zoetermeer since 2018, working to improve safety security, promote good healthcare, tackle the housing shortage and more. As a politician, I try to focus on what really matters: getting things done for the people. To make that happen, you need to cooperate with other parties whenever you can. After all, we were all elected to bring about positive change.

Housing crisis

One of the challenges I am eager to help solve is the housing crisis. Our country is already dealing with a severe housing shortage and the problem is getting worse every year. Waiting lists for affordable housing are getting longer and longer, while housing in the free sector is often unaffordable for average Dutch people: prices for buying and renting have risen to record levels, due in part to the housing shortage. At the same time, promising building sites lie unused while immigration continues to heap more pressure on the housing market. Something has to change.

Japan

I have a profound interest in Japanese culture. I admire their respectful manners and can even speak some Japanese. It’s part of my general interest in international affairs, which is also why I try to keep up with global news.
