Biography

"More facts, less framing"

After getting a degree in applied mathematics abroad, I started working in the House of Representatives in 2017, first as a staff member and in recent years as head of Policy for GroenLinks. My very first job was with the Ministry of Finance, so you could say that I gradually transitioned from STEM to politics.

Fair tax system

The decision by GroenLinks and PvdA to join forces created a lot of new energy and reinforced my decision to go into politics. As an MP, I am looking forward to creating a fair tax system and tackling tax evasion. Moreover, I believe that the biggest polluters and the strongest shoulders should make a fair contribution.

STEM

My background is in mathematics, so figures and complex issues do not scare me. I am also highly precise, which is a real asset in politics. Last year, I helped conduct a costing of the GroenLinks-PvdA election manifesto, and my love for maths and good sense of numbers definitely paid off.

Twitter threads

Sports are my favourite way to clear my head, especially football and beach volleyball in the summer. I also enjoy playing board games with friends and playing music, but a lot of my spare time is also devoted to politics. During the campaign, for example, I posted lots of informative twitter threads. We need more facts and less framing in politics, and I have found that those threats really help, so I will continue posting them in the coming years.
