What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Etkin Armut.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
I've been interested in history, politics and society from a young age. As a teacher at a pre-vocational secondary school, I had the opportunity to teach vmbo pupils about these important themes. We cannot take our democracy for granted. My goal is to ensure that everyone feels involved in our democracy. Moreover, the House of Representatives is the place where I can contribute to women’s safety.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
With the CDA, I want to help deliver structural solutions that will genuinely improve people's lives through sensible politics. I am committed to the Groningen recovery programme, women’s safety and high-quality education.
3. Who inspires you?
Saskia Belleman. Through her attention to femicide, she has placed an important social problem firmly on the agenda. She has also successfully made complex court cases accessible to a wide audience, which is of great value to public trust in the rule of law. I respect her tremendously.
