What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Ulysse Ellian.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
My father is from Iran and my mother from Afghanistan. Their stories have taught me that freedom and safety should never be taken for granted, and that we have to defend them.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
The Netherlands is a beautiful country that does a lot of things right. That is also our vulnerability: we are not prepared to stand up against those who wish to attack our way of life. We must stop being naive and push back against hostile states like Iran and Russia and against serious organised crime.
3. Who inspires you?
Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, two judges who were murdered by the Italian mafia. They were prepared to give their lives to defend freedom, safety and the rule of law.
