Biography
“Fighting division together”
For 25 years, I fought to keep our planet healthy with Greenpeace. Time is running out and the next few years will be crucial if we are to save the planet. We will have to push through brave new laws and I am fully committed to making that happen.
Drive for change
My job as an MP is entirely different from working for Greenpeace, but my drive has stayed the same. I cannot wait to fight to make the world a more equitable, greener place for all, along with my 24 fellow PvdA MPs.
Important values
Being an MP is a demanding job. In the future, I hope that people will look back and see how hard I worked for the people and our planet, and how I stood up against hate in favour of love. On top of that, I firmly believe that there is more to people than their job alone. There is more to life than work, like playing with my children, my girlfriend, seeing friends, playing sports, and sailing. It is important to me to keep making time for ‘the rest of Joris’, too.
Concerned and up for the fight
I am quite concerned about what awaits our country after these elections. Even in a country as rich as ours, many people are worried about money, finding a place to live, the climate crisis and more. Sharing the wealth and supporting other countries will make the Netherlands an even better place. I also firmly believe that we can improve Dutch people’s quality of life while stopping climate change at the same time. Our planet is worth protecting and I will do just that. I am concerned and up for the fight.
