What does this MP stand for?
Three questions for Tijs van den Brink.
1. What drives you to serve as an MP?
After many years in journalism I have seen how abrasive politics has become. It is time to return to grounded, respectful behaviour and to start working together again.
2. What would you change about the Netherlands?
I want the Netherlands to get moving again. We need to control migration, new momentum in housing construction and an effective approach to the nitrogen crisis. Too much is at a standstill, leaving families and farmers struggling. I also hope to help reduce polarisation from The Hague.
3. Who inspires you?
Three people: Jesus Christ, Frits Bolkestein – I always admired his style – and Henri Bontenbal. He has done a terrific job renewing Christian democracy in recent years.
