Biography
"Fighting for change"
As a representative of the people, I have a great responsibility. I try to head into the country as often as possible to meet people and fight for change together. People should have more control over their homes and jobs and get the care that suits them best. I also care deeply about fighting child poverty.
Salaried street sweepers
Before becoming an MP, I was a municipal councillor in Eindhoven (my hometown) and in The Hague for several years. One of my proudest achievements in the Hague was getting the municipality to employ its 260 street sweepers. I was also a staff member of the SP Parliamentary Group for almost a decade.
R&R
In my spare time, I like to go to the seaside for a bike ride or a walk or just for a cup of coffee at a beach club. I am fortunate enough to live just 10 minutes from the beach! I also love to read, especially Dutch literature. On holidays, I like to read works by Herman Brusselmans or Dimitri Verhulst for some R&R, they never fail to make me smile.
