“Looking for structural solutions”

There are some problems that require structural, political solutions, like the housing shortage. We have to work together to make sure that everyone has a home and enough income to get by. Another common challenge is managing the influx of asylum seekers. Those are the goals I spend my days working towards, aiming for a result that we can all get behind.

Not words but deeds

I’ve been in politics for more than 40 years and in that time I learned that I am a doer. On top of that, I love debating and engaging with people. We’re all in it together: that’s why I spend a lot of my time with the people, out in the field. I get to meet countless people on the job, but I do always try to strike a balance between listening, talking and doing. While I was born in Amsterdam, the Rotterdam mindset of 'not words but deeds' is close to my heart.

Hazes is king

I love hiking in nature and I’m an avid runner. When I go outside for some exercise, I finally get to relax. I also love music, and Hazes will always be king for me. My favourite song? “Voor mij geen slingers aan de wand”, no doubt about it.
