Biography

"But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!" (Amos 5:24)

Before I was an MP, I was a lawyer and had my own business. As a cause lawyer, I mainly dedicated my time to helping people who fell between the cracks and people in debt. Ultimately, my experiences inspired me to make the transition to policy-making. As a lawyer, I have seen assisting people is one thing, but that you also need to take a critical look at policy, legislation, and how those are implemented. That’s the story of how I entered politics, being elected to Amsterdam municipal council in 2018.

Making a difference

I want to make the country a better place. You need a government that serves its people, but there is still a lot of room for improvement in how to do so. As an MP, I’m looking forward to legislating and contributing to the country’s system of checks and balances. The House is a promising place to have tremendous impact on countless different people.

Whole story

The main lesson my job taught me was that there are two sides to every story and that you should always look to unearth the whole story. One of the important tasks of government is shedding light on stories that lay untold and overlooked. We need to look after the most vulnerable members of society and tell their stories.
