Biography

“There is no better place to serve your country than the House”

There is no better place to serve the Netherlands than the House of Representatives. I am very aware of my privilege and aim to make good use of it every day.

Everyone has talents

One of my guiding principles in life is that everybody has a talent and has something to bring to the table. I want to help make the Netherlands a place where everyone can make the most of their talents and participate fully in society. My main concern is for people who need a little help, from asylum seekers who have just arrived in the Netherlands to people who face barriers to employment.

Travelling across the country

I spend a lot of time travelling across the country to meet real people and listen to their struggles and concerns. You have to know what problems people are facing before you can come up with appropriate political solutions, such as acts, policy proposals or motions. A good, recent example is a programme we set up with Ukrainian psychologists, who helped their compatriots who had just arrived in the Netherlands and were struggling with everything they had been through. Autonomy is very important to me, so I am also committed to helping people who want to stay in control at the end of their life.

Cooking up a storm

I love to cook elaborate meals, preferably with some good music in the background.
