Biography

"I oppose everything that takes the shine off life”

While I was studying history, I researched social movements that took on the establishment like the PvdD, the party I would later join. In 2015, I became the youngest senate member in the country, and I also served as PvdD group chairwoman in the Hague municipal council.

Driving change

The PvdD is eager to drive change and turn around entire systems, but during my time in politics I have found that starting off with small changes often has the biggest effect. While it is important to stick to your own ideals, I also believe that politicians should be open to cooperation. In the past, I have campaigned for tree preservation, greening, and getting more people to eat vegetarian food.

Political challenges

The agricultural transition will be one of the biggest political challenges we’ll face in the coming years. Agriculture will have to become more plant-based, organic, and regional, and the Netherlands as a whole will have to step up its efforts to stop the climate crisis. I also think women's emancipation and women's rights deserve to get more attention in the House of Representatives.

Dancing and singing

Politicians live a hectic life, which is why I love playing guitar, dancing and singing in my spare time to relax.
